Theme 1 - Environmental Change: Evidence from the Past On a planet where instrumental records only span the past 150 years, the study of climate changes induced by human activity necessarily implies reconstructing what happened in the distant past, in the oceans, on land, in the atmosphere and in ecosystems. This is the only way in which it is possible to understand how the global climatic system functions “as a whole” and to define its pace of change. Posters and communications must present an integrated vision of the climatic conditions of the Iberian Peninsula in the past, investigating its relationship with the global climate and the effects on ecosystems and human societies, spanning time frames ranging from decades to thousands of years. |
